Quantum Foundations III · Lesson 3

More Than One Sector?

So far we have looked at one sector.
Now change the model.
Suppose the configuration space contained several invariant sectors.

SUPPOSEDOPEN

Whether PDT0 actually supplies multiple sectors remains an open question. QM3 does not derive the existence or multiplicity of sectors from the primitive PDT foundations. It asks what follows if multiple invariant sectors occur in the realised configuration structure.

What Is Being Divided Into Sectors?

The sectors considered here belong to relational configuration space. They are not regions of ordinary physical space. A sector represents a class of configurations preserved by the relevant transport structure.

Try it: drag a configuration marker towards the edge of its region. It slows, the edge glows, and it slides around the inside. The One, Three and Five buttons show the same behaviour without dragging.

What to notice

QM3 does not derive a process in which one sector divides into several. The transition here simply changes the display from one hypothetical case to another. If several invariant sectors did exist, sector-preserving transport would let each evolve while remaining separate. Whether PDT0 actually supplies multiple sectors remains open, and the next lesson explores what the supposition would allow — and what it would not.

Suppose several sectors exist.
Could they interact with one another?
